C J Grooming Terms and Conditions

This contract is binding for the current groom date and any future groom dates. Prices and fees are subject to change without notice. I hereby agree to the following as owner of the pet.

Customer Declaration: Pets will only be accepted for grooming after the Owner (or other responsible person) has filled in and signed our pet registration form. You will be asked to sign the pet registration form when you bring your pet in for each grooming appointment. By signing the form you are deemed to have accepted these Terms and Conditions. We will not groom your dog without a signed declaration.

Anal Glands: Anal gland expression is deemed to be "veterinary procedure" by some vets and therefore under the Veterinary Surgeons Act we are now prevented from performing these services for you.

Pet Health and Conditions: C J Grooming will only accept animals that are fit and healthy. Any grooming which takes place on an elderly animal or animal with health problem will be at the owner’s risk. Grooming may expose pre-existing health/skin problems for which C J Grooming cannot be held liable. The animal is should be vaccinated up to date. Any unvaccinated animal puts itself and others at risk.

Accidents/Injury: C J Grooming make every effort to keep your pet safe and secure. There is always the possibility an accident could occur. Grooming equipment is very sharp, even though we use extreme caution and care in all situations, possible problems could occur including cuts, nicks, scratches, cutting of nails, etc. In most cases this can happen when a pet is wiggling or moving around. Owners accept that by using our grooming service it is completely at there own risk and in the event of any accident/ injury to their pet or health concern, we are authorised to contact a veterinarian and authorise the vet to treat the pet as necessary. The owner is to pay all expenses and any future expenses relating the the injury or health problem and does not hold C J Grooming its staff/work experience or self employed contractors liable.

Grooming and Styling: Please note that we cannot be held responsible for you not liking the end grooming process. During the initial consultation we will work hard to understand your end goal for the grooming of your pet. The grooming process will vary from groomer to groomer and no one groomer is alike in the way they style a pet. We are a pet grooming salon and do not do show or breed standard cuts or style to show or breed standard.

Creative Styling: If you order any creative styling, nail painting, spa treatment,  facials, or coat colouring we cannot be held responsible for any adverse effects these are carried out at the owner’s risk.

Cat Grooming: We do not offer cat styling the only clipping/scissoring we will ever complete is to remove matted fur.

Groomers: All groomers at C J Grooming are self employed contractors and as such are insured under the business to offer services as well as each having there own insurance. You give permission for all groomers to take photos of your pet to hel build their portfolio and to use in marketing purposes. All payments for grooming services, shop sales and extra services should be paid directly to the groomer.

Work Experience: From time to time we have work experience students in the salon. Students do get hands on with pets and are expected to bath and dry pets that display a good nature. We still expect high standards from them and all pets are checked prior to leaving. You understand that your pet may be bathed and dried by a work experience student. You have the right to refuse this.

Aggressive or Dangerous Pets: Owners MUST inform C J Grooming  if your pet(s) bite, has bitten, or is aggressive to people, other pets or specific grooming procedures. Muzzles may be used if necessary. Muzzling will not harm your pet, and protects both the pet and the groomer. C J Grooming reserves the right to refuse/stop services for such pet(s) at any time before or during the grooming process, and charge a handling fee for Aggressive Dogs in addition to the regular grooming charge. If the pet should bite, the owner agrees to be responsible for any and all related medical bills, recovery costs, loss of income and equipment damage.

Health, Medical Problems & Senior Pets: Grooming procedures can sometimes be stressful, especially for a senior or ill pet and can expose hidden medical problems or aggravate a current one during or after the groom. Because these pets have a greater chance of injury, these pets will be groomed for cleanliness and comfort. In the best interest of your pet and by signing this contract/agreement will give C J Grooming permission to obtainimmediate veterinary treatment for your pet should it be deemed necessary. We will do our best to contact you first and then take your pet to the closest Veterinarian for immediate treatment. It is agreed that all expenses for Veterinary care will be covered by the pet's owner upon signing this contract/agreement.

Mat Removal: Pets with matted coats need extra attention during their grooming session. Mats left in a pet’s coat only grow tighter, and can strangle the pet's skin, or eventually tear it open. C J Grooming does not wish to cause serious or undue stress to your pet and will not continually de-mat your pet for you. Mats can be very difficult to remove, and may require the pet to be shaved. Any pet presented with a matted coat will be shaved, removing a heavily matted coat includes risks of nicks, cuts or abrasions due to warts, moles or skin folds trapped in the mats. Heavy matting can also trap moisture and urine near the pet's skin allowing mould, fungus or bacteria to grow, causing skin irritations that existed prior to the grooming process. Torn skin from mats can also harbour maggots. After effects of mat removal procedures can include itchiness, skin redness, self-inflicted irritations or abrasions and failure of the hair to re-grow. Shaved pets are also prone to sunburn and should be kept out of the sun until the hair grows sufficiently to protect the skin. In some cases pets may also exhibit brief behavioural changes. Prevention is the best defence against matting by scheduling regular grooming appointments.

Puppy's/Dogs/Cats First Haircut: The first grooming experience for an animal requires patience and understanding. More time may be necessary to work with younger pets, gradually adding steps to the grooming process on a regular basis will help to minimise any potential stress. Owners can help their pets accept grooming by regularly massaging pet's paws as well as brushing & combing their coats. Frequent handling of paws can help pets better accept nail clipping or trimming around the feet. Every effort will be made to complete the service that has been booked but owners must accept that in come cases their pet may come out with a damp coat or less than perfect hairstyle.

Parasites: If you suspect your pet has fleas or ticks, prompt and thorough action on YOUR part will be needed. Flea infestations can lead to tapeworm and other health problems. If fleas or ticks are found during the grooming process, your pet will receive a flea bath to kill the parasites and an extra charge will be applied. Ticks found will be removed and an additional charge may be applied. If ticks are found, we strongly suggest you have your pet tested for Lyme disease or other tick borne illnesses. Please note that parasites are a health hazard to your pet as well as to humans. Should we remove ticks this will be at the owners risk we recommend thorough review by a vet.

Late Drop Off’s: Please arrive ON TIME to your scheduled appointment. We understand there are emergency situations and will work with you, but not on a continued basis. Late arrivals may need to be re-scheduled and the groomer has the right to refuse your pet on this basis and you will be subject to a £20 fee per pet.

Late Pick-Ups: Please be on time to pick-up your pet(s). We work by appointment only and do not have the staff or facilities for your pet to stay after the groom has been completed. To enforce this policy, a £20 kennel fee may be added to your invoice.

No-shows & Cancellations: No shows, last minute cancellations (less than 48hours’ notice) or continual re-scheduling are subject to a FEE PER PET of the full grooming charge will be charged.
